October 28 Update on Leah's lifeQuick update on Leah's life seeing as all she's done recently is whinge:
1) Went to Michelle & David's Awards Night on Wednesday. David played in Symphony Orchestra and Michelle got 3 Merit Awards (for getting A's for three subjects... Art, Graphics and... o.O... I can't remember the other one).
2) CU FORMAL TOMORROW NIGHT XD I'm probably wearing Michelle's Awards Night dress lol. It's not full length but it's cocktail-length
3) THE FILMING PART OF MY TELEVISION ASSIGNMENT IS OVER. I AM SO HAPPY.
4) My mouth feels better. YAY ^_^
5) Two weeks of uni left. DOUBLE YAY ^_^
6) My speech exam is next week... kinda exciting and kinda scary.
7) After next week, I'll only have 4 assignments left. :D (Three are due in Swatvac).
8).... I'm going to bed now ;P
And ooh ooh... Andre and I will hit the 18 month mark next week. YAY :D
October 26 Feeling awfulYup, that's me... I just got back from the dentist. I had a huge filling in one of my bottom teeth (the cavity was extremely deep as the dentist kept repeating), a smaller filling on one of my top teeth, and I have to go back next week for another little filling. One side of my mouth is numb, and I know it's going to be sore when the anaesthetic wears off. (Hopefully the Heron will do its job.) The needle on my top jaw wasn't too bad, but the one at the back of my jaw flipping HURT, and it wasn't only for just a second or anything, it went on for like ten seconds.
Apparently my tooth (with the huge filling) will be sensitive for a few days (oh great, 2 days before the CU formal) and the dentist said that I may have to end up getting root canal done on it or getting it pulled out- she couldn't quite tell the extent of the damage today, although she did say it didn't look like the decay had entered the root canal. You've got no idea how much I'm praying that it hasn't. I hate dentists and getting stuff done on my teeth, and having to get root canal done would be my worst nightmare. Please pray for me too :(
I'm so mad at myself and wish I'd gone to the dentist yonks ago when I first noticed a cavity in that tooth. I mean, did I think it was going to go away or something? I don't know... I just do the stupidest things sometimes.
Anyway, I might disappear now and go and be miserable...
Not to mention I still have flipping ASSIGNMENTS TO DO. October 19 >_<My sister bought her formal dress today. It's shimmery goldy-bronze with a black underlay- looks brilliant on her.
And I can't wear it.
I don't mean now, or anything. After all, it is her dress. I wasn't gonna try and wear it any time soon. I meant, at any formals/balls I might end up going to next year or in the future, I can't nick her dress... because it's all wrong for me. It's one of those slim, body-fitting dresses- which her, having practically no hips, can WEAR. >_< But would I be able to get away with wearing a dress like that? Noooooo.
>_<
Anyway. It looks awesome on her.
NEXT!
My assignments aren't looking so daunting anymore. I've gotten 3 out of the way this week, and I have one due in week 12 that is already finished, and an oral due next week that I've also pretty much finished. Which means I can concentrate on the last 3 or 4 due. YAY!!
Anyway... back to the assignments :) October 08 Ski Camp was AWESOMEWheeeeeeee yes I'm back from camp Day 1: Sunday Today the campers arrived (we got here yesterday). The Townsville bus beat the Cairns bus for the first time in history. By about an hour and a half, too. We kicked off camp with get-to-know-you bonding games which were good fun- I have a bunch of grade 8 girls- Joanna, Caroline, Tash, Gemma and Dani. Afterwards there was a big water/shaving cream fight that I organised- Note to self: do not pick on Shaun when he has a handful of shaving cream. It will end up in your face. Anyway that was good fun and ended up with us going for a swim in the dam, and the boys playing a game of footy in the water. It was pretty funny to watch, too. You'd have people doing these huge ankle tackles and getting dragged through the mud. Mwahahahaha. We watched the footy grandfinal tonight- AND THE BRONCOS WON! GO QUEENSLANDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beebs and I are bedtime Nazis. Luckily the girls aren't too bad and we were able to get them to shut up pretty quickly. Day 2: Monday Today was a sports day where we played touch, volleyball, and shot some hoops. We also had the first "Spiritual Challenge" today- the speaker's name is LT Hopper, from Sydney. He was really good and talked about Jesus being God on earth. Our small groups are pretty good, though the first day is always a bit tricky coz we dont' know each other properly. Tonight was the Roman night where we all got dressed up in togas and stuff and played Romanopoly. (I'm not going to go into details here Day 3: Tuesday Today half the camp went to the Ski day and half went to High ropes (and some went on the mystery tour). I went to Tinaburra with the ski group, which was awesome fun. David went kneeboarding and did a deep water start- go him! I can't deepwater start. Michelle went waterskiing and skied 4km. She did 2km straight then stacked it, then another 2km. I spent the morning looking after the kneeboarding roster, then spent the afternoon in the ski boat throwing ropes to skiiers and observing (which means keeping an eye on the skiier and watching for hand signals and passing the message on to the boat driver. The tops of my feet got a bit burnt but it wasn't too bad. Tonight was the Pensioners night. We all got dressed up as pensioners and Beebs and Jacinta had organised all these games based on what pensioners go through day to day. It was great fun and all the teenagers had a blast. It was a great night of bonding and people got to know each other a lot better. There was a lot of cheating involved too, lol. Day 4: Wednesday Today the two halves of the camp reversed, and I went with the high ropes group. I was able to do the Vertical playpen which is basically an obstacle course that goes- vertical! I went up with David (you go in pairs). I don't have much in the way of upper body strength so my arms were pretty dead half way up. But I ended up getting to the top Tonight was a Parables night. We were split into groups and given a parable to modernise then act out. It was hilarious. Our group did the Good Samaritan, star-wars style. Greg did the sound effects and was brilliant- people said afterwards they could have sworn R2D2 was in the room. We won a prize for best sound effects, and also tied as the winners. Each night we had a camp fire to wind down, pray and de-brief the day, talking about our highs and lows of the day (which usually provoked a lot of laughter) and what we learnt from LT's talk. The small groups have been getting better as we get to know each other better, which is great. The girls seem to be absorbing what LT says, and when they don't udnerstand something they ask me or put a question in the question box. They've been a bit challenged by some of the stuff LT's said and what I've asked, which is a good thing. Day 5: Thursday Today was a ski day for the entire camp. I basically looked after the ski roster for most of the day until mid afternoon when I jumped on the jetski (driven by Ray) with Michelle. The jetski was towing kneeboards, so Michelle observed while I enjoyed the ride. Michelle then swapped with Katie and Dave sent us out to go find a ski boat that hadn't returned for an hour. So without the kneeboard on the back Ray gunned it and we had heaps of fun. He would have flipped it except he thought Michelle was still on the back and he'd already flipped it with her on twice. It was great- we were going 100k/hr which was awesome. Tonight was a movie night and we went to the Mareeba drive in theatre and watched Pirates of the Caribbean 2. We got back to camp late, but still had the campfire. Luckily Beebs and I didn't need to do too much bedtime-nazi-ing and the girls went quiet pretty quickly. Day 6: Friday Today was the lazy day. After a great sleep in and late breakfast, we had the Spiritual Challenge and small group time. Today's talk was about death and was quite confronting for everyone. The girls, since they were Christians, realised they were saved but that it's a reality that those who aren't Christians will be eternally separated from God. Afterwards was lunch, then we went to Lake Eacham to bludge. Some people went swimming but it was pretty cold- some went for a walk around the lake- and some just sat and listened to Dean play the guitar, or talked. Tonight was a Mexican night. It was essentially a big party, organised by the wives of some of the male leaders. Lots of mexican oriented games, dances, and pinatas. Day 7: Saturday Last day! Today, instead of being woken at 7 by ping pong games outside the dorm and girls talking and giggling, I had to wake up the girls. Lots of cleaning today, packing up, one last Spiritual Challenge, then lunch, camp photos, and home. Our convoy (Jacinta, Michelle, David, Steve, Matty, Bethany & Tim) left Tinaroo about three quarters of an hour after the Townville bus, but we caught them in Cardwell lol. Got back home at twenty to 7- absolutely exhausted. I never realised that camp wore the leaders out more than the campers!! So anyway that was the week- now it's back to assignments for me >_< |
