September 29 Touch baseG'day all
Just a quick update to touch base before I run off to Ski Camp tomorrow (YAY XD)
Yah just letting you all know I won't be here next week, I'm heading off to NQ Xtreme or Ski Camp as us traditionalists still call it, except this year, I'M A LEADER :-| lol should be good fun, I have a bunch of grade 9 girls- and I don't know ANY of them. Good fun :P
The last week has been spent on lecture recess doing- what else- assignments. I've gotten a heap of work done which is good. Haven't had an awful lot of sleep, and next week is going to be exhausting, so I'll just collapse when I get back next Saturday.
Have fun back at uni, and for you slacker highschoolers not coming on Ski Camp, have fun being bored while we're off water skiing and kneeboarding and tubing and doing high ropes and canoeing and... ;D September 20 One for the women...Women Drivers
This morning on the Freeway , I looked over to my left and there was a woman in a brand new MX5 doing 65 k's with her face up next to her rear view mirror putting on her eyeliner. I looked away for a couple seconds and when I looked back she was halfway over in my lane, still working on that makeup. As a man, I don't scare easily. But she scared me so much; I dropped my electric shaver, which knocked the donut out of my other hand. In all the confusion of trying to straighten out the car using my knees against the steering wheel, it knocked my cell phone away from my ear which fell into the coffee between my legs, splashed, and burned Big Jim and the Twins, ruined the damn phone, soaked my trousers, and disconnected an important call. Damn women drivers!
How many women with PMS does it take to change a lightbulb?
One! And only ONE!!! And do you know WHY?! Because no-one else in this house ever does a damn thing! They'd sit around in the dark house for THREE DAYS before they even noticed the bulb was blown! And then they wouldn't know where to FIND the spare lightbulbs even though they've been in the SAME CUPBOARD for the last 13 YEARS!! And if by some miracle they did manage to find the lightbulb, the chair that they dragged under the light to change the bulb would still be in the middle of the room TWO DAYS LATER with the light bulb wrapper SITTING ON THE FLOOR underneath it because nobody in this house EVER takes out the RUBBISH!!!! It's a miracle we haven't all suffocated in the amount of rubbish lying around! It would take the whole army to clean this house!!!
Tech Support
Dear Tech Support:
Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0. I soon
noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources. In addition Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other system activity. Applications such as football 5.0, Hunting and Fishing 7.5, and Golf 3.6. I can't seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my favorite applications. I'm thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0, but the uninstall doesn't work on Wife 1.0. Please help! Thanks,
A Troubled User Tech Support Reply: Dear Troubled User:
This is a very common problem that men complain about. Many
people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0, thinking that it is just a Utilities and Entertainment program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run EVERYTHING!!! It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and to return to Girlfriend 7.0. It is impossible to uninstall, or purge the program files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed to not allow this. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under Warnings-Alimony- Child Support. I recommend that you keep Wife1.0 and work on improving the situation. I suggest installing the background application "Yes Dear" to alleviate software augmentation. The best course of action is to enter the command
C:\APOLOGIZE because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the system will return to normal anyway. Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance. Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean and Sweep 3.0, Cook It 1.5 and Do Bills 4.2. However, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program Nag Nag 9.5. Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0! WARNING!!! DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3. This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system. Best of luck! September 11 What is happening to Australian culture?*Implodes*
Honestly, people. What is happening to Australia when people don't know who Colin Thiele is?
Last week THREE, not two, Australian greats died. Steve Irwin, a wildlife great - Peter Brock, a racing great - and Colin Thiele, a literature great.
It continues to amaze me the amount of people who don't know who I'm talking about when I say that he died. Colin Thiele wrote Storm Boy, possibly one of the most loved Australian stories ever. And young people these days don't know who he is >_< Lol "young people these days" I sound like I'm 70 or something.
Please. People these days are getting so caught up in this multi-cultural rubbish that Australia is losing its own culture. Stuff multiculturalism. Australia is NOT one big MULTICULTURE, it's Australian. </random slightly off topic rant> September 07 Poll- Steve IrwinAs we all know now, the nation (and the world) was shocked on Monday to learn of the death of the larger than life Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. I think a lot of the shock stemmed from the following belief.
For the average person, messing round with dangerous animals would arouse a certain expectation of death. However, for decades we've seen Steve Irwin- not mess around with (that implies irresponsibility, and he always knew what he was doing)- but interact with dangerous animals in a way most of us wouldn't dare to, but because he knew what he was doing and for the most part was very responsible, he was never severely injured. To see someone in a situation that most of us would imagine to equal death, or near death, and have him come out of it unscathed, time and time again, leaves an expectation in us that if he hasn't died at the hands of these deadly animals, then an animal won't be the one to kill him.
Therefore, for him to die from an animal, and a relatively safe and placid one at that, is quite unexpected. Personally, I'm still struggling to believe that this iconic Australian is dead, just out of nowhere. That's half the shock of it.
Anyway. Poll. Who thinks the footage of his death should be shown? Who thinks his funeral should be televised? I think his funeral, or some memorial service at any rate, should be televised. Personally, I'm happy they're not having a state funeral. He wouldn't have wanted that. As for the footage of his death, I'm interested to see it but realise that it's probably too much of an invasion on privacy and would probably throw the nation into even more grief to see it.
I can't think of anyone else whose death would provoke such grief, shock and mourning from Australia. |
