Lila BearThe difference between literature and journalism is that journalism is unreadable and literature is not read. - Oscar Wilde January 17 The Last Promised Update Ok, so it's been a long time coming... but here is the last promised update. My new blog is at http://missleahmaria.blogspot.com Other piece of random interesting news: I'm getting married! Yes, Andre and I are engaged and getting married on May 31. So that's all for this MSN Space. RIP. June 12 Oh dear, now look what I've done...Yes, I've done it... taken the plunge... I am abandoning my MSN Space.
I will eventually find my new home over at Blogger.
But for now, I can be found at- DUN DUN DUNNNN- MySpace www.myspace.com/lilabear87
THIS IS NOT PERMANENT.
I have had a MySpace for a while- simply so I can connect with and comment on friends' pages- and have slowly been adding all the cool stuff, like music and photo slideshows and prettiful backgrounds etc etc, but soon, the main face of Leah on the internet will be at Blogger.
Once I have a web address for it I will post it here.
Thankyou all for my lovely time at MSN Spaces :bows: and hopefully I will see you over at Blogger ;)
Love and Kisses, Lila Bear
PS. Even non-blogger-members can post comments on Blogger blogs ^_^ May 28 Mr James & Mrs Talia HurburghJAMES AND TALIA GOT MARRIED ON SATURDAY! YAY!!! It was so beautiful... and a really, really big day! So I might start at the beginning...
Well it started with me sleeping in and getting ready in a mad rush when Alan came to pick me up for music practice in the morning We go to the church early on purpose so that Heidi and I could sing through one of the songs because she didn't know it. We were stuck outside with some other early-arrivers because nobody had a key. Then "the guys" arrived... the groom James, the best man- my boyfriend Andre There were more than 160 people at the wedding... and then "the girls" arrived. Talia looked so pretty, and her three bridesmaids' dresses were each a different shade of blue (the groomsmen's ties matched). Unfortunately I have no photos because I FORGOT MY CAMERA (I swear, I do that at EVERY wedding) but I shared Heidi's... and I know for a fact that Michelle Ayres got hundreds After the wedding of course there were PHOTOS... photos at the church of the bridal party, James and Talia's families, the people who helped make the wedding happen (minister, church members, musicians and singers- yay for Heidi and me lol- etc), etc etc etc. Oh, and the music team got CHOCOLATES... >_> So anyway a bunch of us decided to go to Lukabean for coffee or whatever until the reception started. Andre's Mum and James's parents went, and then there was the "young crowd"... Heidi, me, Jessie, Jacinta, Jako, Scooter, Michelle P, Beebs, Aaran, JP... and there was someone else, who was sitting beside Scooter, I can't remember who it was... sorry! And then we headed out to Talia's place at Rupertswood for the reception. We took a little detour, it was NOT my direction-reading skills' fault, it was the fault of the incorrect GPS directions we had. The reception was beautiful, and SO MUCH FUN. At our table was me, Heidi, Jessie, Jako, Luke Henderson, JP, Scooter and Jacinta. The food was reasonable- it tasted good but was a bit cold, probably because our table was the last one to be allowed at the buffet Andre made a really good Best Man's speech... as embarrassed as I acted, I was proud of him And then of course (after all the other speeches, toasts, etc) was PARTY TIME... we had half the backyard to dance on with lots of great music which we could choose ourselves from the computer set-up Next embarrassing moment... Andre shouting out to someone while standing beside me at the same time as Luke made a comment about me and alcohol... I said "what was that?" "Oh never mind." "No, tell me. I didn't hear you because Andre was shouting in my voic- my ear, in my ear." *Andre and Luke burst out laughing* "Shouting in your voice, was he? You just proved my point." But then Luke did the exact same thing fifteen minutes later And then later in the night there were some slow songs again so I got to slow-dance with Andre We ended up leaving at 1am And then I had to get up at 7:30 for church. Normally I can handle 5 hours sleep ok. Man, I was knackered Sunday morning though. Not only had I had a late night, but it had been a long, full, energy-sucking day. I was exhausted, tired, and SORE (from dancing and limbo)... but it was SO much fun. CONGRATULATIONS TO JAMES AND TALIA!! PS. My sides and neck are still sore from limbo :P May 23 State of Origin: NSW training problemGot this in my inbox today... The NSW Origin team training session was delayed at Suncorp Stadium today for nearly two hours. One of the players, while on his way back to the dressing room happened to look down and notice a suspicious looking, unknown white powdery substance at the end of the field. The NSW Coach immediately suspended practice while the Police were called in to investigate. After a complete field analysis, the Police determined that the white substance, unknown to the players, was the try line. Practice was resumed when the officials decided that it was unlikely that the team would encounter the substance again this year. GO QUEENSLAND!!!!! May 02 2 Years! So anyway, I have THE WONDERFULLEST boyfriend in THE WORLD... yes, he has put up with me for 2 years, today! Yay!
And seeing as what he did for the event was Heidi-melt-worthy (and anyone who knows Heidi Schwartz knows she has high standards), I'm going to tell everyone.
It started last night, seeing as both of us are usually busy Wednesday nights. I knew we were going to The Watermark on the Strand, so I got dressed up all prettiful, and then he came and picked me up at 7, with a single yellow rose. After putting that in a vase, we headed off down to the Strand, and arrived at the Watermark. When Andre knew the guy at the front register by name, and the guy (Grant) recognised Andre, I knew something was up... he lead us to our table, and lying on the table was another yellow rose ^_^
We ordered entree (garlic pizza bread with dips) before Andre ordered us a bottle of Shiraz (which, because we didn't finish it, he got to take home), and then we had our main meal- both of us ordered honey beer battered red emperor (SO GOOD... *drools*) with chips and a watermelon & cucumber salad, except I had the smaller entree-sized one seeing as I knew I wouldn't finish the bigger one :P We also had a side salad to go with it. Once we finished with that, our waiter Sam asked us if he could get dessert for us. Andre said that when he booked the place, the person on the phone had said since it was our anniversary they might be able to do a special dessert for us. So Sam sussed that out, then came back and said it was all good to go. It turned out to be mint beauvoire (a set mint cream type thing) with toffee on top, and pineapple pieces around the outside of the plate with chocolate syrup... then, written arond the edge of the plate in orange icing type stuff was "Happy Anniversary!!"! I was speechless for, like, 2 minutes straight. Ok, not quite. 1 minute maybe.
Once we were finished there we went for a little walk along the Strand and sat on a bench where I gave him a present- can't have HIM doing all the spoiling!- a Shawn McDonald CD and a book, before we headed home.
Right, but it doesn't finish there!
This morning, before I woke up, he came around and Michelle let him in (to my knowledge), when he proceeded to come into my room and scatter rose petals all over the place (Mum said he just wants to make more work for me when I clean it up :P) then he woke me up with a kiss on the cheek. I sat up, saw the rose petals everywhere... and he had an arrangement of 8 more yellow roses!
Now, do I or do I not have the awesomest boyfriend ever? Even Heidi has said- numerous times- that I have one very awesome boyfriend ;) No doubt Chiara will be equally as proud of him... ;)
THANKYOU ANDRE!!! XD *tacklehuggles Andre* April 29 I've been sorted...April 23 NOT HAPPY JANGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
It looks like my block subject will clash with CU's Mid Year Camp.
DAMN IT, it was going to be my last CU camp EVER!!!! That makes it all 50 times worse.
SO NOT HAPPY JAN. April 19 Good times, good timesHehe hmm what a weird week. I have been busy just about every night, doing nothing but my Harry Potter assignment during the day. (And finding out lots of goss about the 7th book in the process!!! XD)
Sunday night of course was church; Monday night was empty; Tuesday night was dinner at Heidi's; Wednesday night was Focus; tonight was an Adventure Club meeting; Friday will be dinner at the McDougalls'; Saturday I'm going out with Andre; Sunday will be church again; Monday will be Big League at the footy; Tuesday will be dinner with Andre again; Wednesday will be Focus; Thursday will be Meaty Bites; Friday will be Adventure Club... WOW I'm book out every night right through to the end of next week!!!
Anyway, dinner at Heidi's was a lot of fun. Thanks for cooking Hadze and Johann! Johann, you did a wonderful job cutting up those veggies ;) And Heidi, good to see you have that cousin of yours at work in the kitchen :P
It was a bit of a group we had at Heidi's. There was Heidi, Johann, me, Andre, Clinton, Marnie, James, Wian, Joel, Jack, Jessie, Jako, Geoff, Maddy, Greg and Skye at the end. We ate a wonderful dinner; played a South African game which I heard Aussies calling Flicker but I don't know the actual name for it; drank wine... and cider... and scotch... and corona (I only drank the first two :P) with nobody getting drunk *glances at Clinton and Johann- they came close- Clinton forgot within 15 minutes that he'd bought ice cream for us*; beat each other up with rolled up newspapers; laughed a lot; took candid photos and videos of people (http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/ireth_aiwendil/Heidis%20Dinner%20-%20April%202007/); and basically just had a lot of fun. It was an awesome night. You know how there are times when you have heaps of fun, then later, you look back at photos and videos and realise you had an even better time than you realised? That was one of those nights. It was so great to see my friends like Marnie and James and Joel and Clinton who I hadn't seen in ages. And Johann is always good fun. We sort of bounce off each other when it comes to laughter... Jessie doesn't help :D
BUT ANYWAY. Good fun. Check out the photos and videos... the video sound is a bit dodgy, I might nick the funniest ones sometime (like the one below) and stick captions on them if Marnie lets me :) April 16 How did I manage that...An assignment on Harry Potter? Heh. I'm going to have fun with that one. Except for the minor fact that it's actually giving me a bit of difficulty. (Which I still view as a good thing).
“The Harry Potter stories portray a strangely diminished world where normal, non-magical people, the Muggles, are marginal, boring or annoying and seem to lack any particular significance or power beyond force of numbers, and the Wizards approach magic as a form of science to be taught in college like engineering. There is a rudimentary sense of moral order but no religion, beyond a looming sense of absolute evil.” Discuss." I hate assignments where the topic gives about 4 different subjects (the relationship between the Muggle & Wizarding worlds; the idea Muggles are marginal, boring, or annoying; the wizards' approach to magic; the 'rudimentary sense of moral order'). And I'm supposed to "discuss" all of them?! >_< Oh well, I'm still having fun doing the assignment. ----------------------------------------- WHAT THE?! Y'know how the Ross Dam filled to about 70% after that deluge of rain we had in January? Apparently it ended up filling to just under 100% in February. By mid February, it had dropped to 50%. It is now at 35%. WHY?!?! Townsville definitely hasn't used it all. It is my guess- from the fact that the weirs only stopped overflowing about a month ago- that due to the height of the dam wall, it is incapable of holding more than about 40%. (It sat on about 40% for a few weeks around the time the weirs stopped overflowing). Which, in my mind, is bloody RIDICULOUS. Do you know how much water must have been wasted, running straight over the top of that dam wall? 60% of its proper capacity, which is 137,842 ML. That is criminal, especially with south east Queensland in such desperate need of water. Straight out of our dam and into the ocean. April 11 Goodbye to MSN Spaces?Well, that's what I'm thinking about anyway. I'm considering switching across to Blogspot, for two main reasons. One, I don't use my hotmail account anymore (which this Space is linked to). Because I have two hotmail-linked accounts active (a hotmail one and my current gmail one) whenever I need to use this, it asks which account I'm logging in on. Blogspot, because I only have one account, I can just tell it to remember me. And yes, I already have an account because it is linked with my gmail account. So one reason is out of convenience and "now I can forget about my hotmail account".
The second reason is that Blogspot just looks nicer than MSN Spaces. The layout is neater- the main focus is the blog itself, with one side bar. I realise you can change templates on this thing, but everytime I go onto someone else's blogspot blog, I think to myself just how much nicer it is to look at and use than an MSN Space. (At least MSN Spaces aren't as evil as MySpaces though.)
So, due to the combination of the above, I'm getting sick of MSN Spaces and looking more towards Blogger (Blogspot, whichever you call it). I will keep you posted on my decisions. Right now, I'm going to go eat Easter Eggs. |
